Message to My Girl

Message to My Girl is a cover of Split Enz’s 1983 classic ballad, reinvented as a dreamy mix of contemporary synthpop and synthwave. Originally recorded in 2012, I completely remixed the track to be the entrance music to my wedding on 27 October 2018.

I chose Message to My Girl as the soundtrack to our wedding for two reasons: the song is my partner Alex’s favourite song of all time, and for the touching lyrics about a public declaration of love – “So I’ll sing it to the world / This simple message to my girl / No more empty self possession / Visions swept under the mat…”
