FORGET WHAT THE MIND SAYS

Forget What The Mind Says is retro-flavoured synthpop with the dial set to 11 (Spinal Tap reference). Armed with a bouncy synth riff, voluptuous bassline, and oxymoron title lyric, the song tackles the subject of anxiety in a curious, humorous way.

As part of my commitment to finishing what I started, the development of this song has been a ten-year process from inception to completion. At last, it’s finally done!

Forget What The Mind Says is accompanied by a striking and surreal animated video created by yours truly. As for the cover, it tends to suggest the song is more of an “ear-carp” than earworm.

Lyrics

You’re thinking too much
You’re getting upset
You’re anxious inside
You cannot forget
It’s happened before
Could happen again
The feeling just rises
Thoughts of the end

Forget what the mind says
It’s all wired into your head
Forget what the mind says
Erase what you’ve just read
Forget what the mind says
It’s all lost inside your head
Forget what the mind says
You’ll be fine, you’re not dead

You’re mind’s in a loop
It will not leave
Your heart rate rises
You cannot breathe
There’s sweat on your brow
The deepest of wells
Anticipation all round
Nervous as hell

Forget what the mind says
It’s all wired into your head
Forget what the mind says
Erase what you’ve just read
Forget what the mind says
It’s all lost inside your head
Forget what the mind says
You’ll be fine, you’re not dead

Oh, forget what the mind says…

What’s your name?
Like a little lost child
Like girls gone mild
Oh, I’m the same
Feeling so bad
Getting kind of mad

Forget what the mind says
Forget what the mind says
Forget what the mind says
Forget what the mind says

Oh, forget what the mind says…
